Why Brief Strategic Therapy? :
When we have a problem we try to find a solution by looking at our past "coping strategies" correlated to our present diffcult time. It's an automatic mental process that functions by association. In some cases it works quite well and the problem disappears, therefore it's not anymore a problem.
People who ask for help and psychological support have usually tried to cope and deal usuccessfully with their problems.
In same cases “attempted solutions” themselves become the problem (Watzlawick, Weakland, and Fisch, 1974).
The reiteration of attempted solutions creates a vicious circle that gets the problem worse and produces "useless and helpless" feelings.
Our Therapy aims to break the vicious circle through specific strategies, apparently simple solutions, and let the clients see a different perpective of the problem. All this in a short period and mutually negotiated period.
Changing the perception of the problem by reacting to it differently, produces a chain reactions, in other words: a snowball effect.
A first change has occurred, the perception has changed and therefore the problem is not a problem anymore.
We use original protocols and advanced intervention models for the treatment of specific mental health problems such as:
Anxiety and phobic disorders
-
Obsessive-Compulsive disorders
Dysmorphophobia
Depression
Hypochondria
Paranoia
Eating disorders
Family problems
Marital/Couple conflicts
Presumed Psychosis
The Brief Strategic Therapy Centre in London has also developed a prioritarian attention to the woman condition and its related mental health problems. We have focused on researching and testing new therapeutic approaches related to them.
About Therapy:
Therapy takes place in a private and confidential setting, and is an interactive and collaborative process between client and therapist. This process is suitable for anyone who wishes to solve a problem in a short time (ten sessions) and also for who wishes to develop greater self-awareness and understanding of themselves, and their relationships with others.
It is quite common to feel hesitant or reluctant about seeking help. Therefore, a preliminary session with no commitment, is intended as an opportunity to explore whether therapy might be helpful to you.

The Brief Strategic Therapy model:
The Brief Strategic Therapy was born formally as Brief Therapy in the early '70's from the meeting between the tradition of brief systemic-strategic therapy of the Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto, California and the technical solutions created by Milton Erickson in the context of the so-called hypnosis without trance.
I said formally because more than two thousand of years ago, the first Masters of communication, persuasion, perception and therefore constructivism were the well known Sophists and nearly half century later the Masters of strategies were the ancient unknown Chinese philosophers and worriors (The art of war, the 36 stratagems).
The clinical research and practice carried out during the last fifteen years by the Strategic Therapy Center of Arezzo directed by Prof Giorgio Nardone, has produced significant enhancement in the efficiency and effectiveness of therapeutic intervention.
During these years detailed research has been carried out on more than 1,000 cases, treated by the over 67 affiliated CTS clinics in Italy and other countries. The result of this massive research was the formulation of the above mentioned clinical protocols of intervention for specific mental health problems. |
